Caretaker Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Dr. Kausar Abdullah Malik visited National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) Islamabad on September 21, 2023. Chairman PARC, Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali extended a warm welcome to the Honorable Minister. Scientists and researchers from Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) participated in the event. Dr. Kausar emphasized the important role of advanced technologies and advanced tools, especially in the field of biotechnology, to ensure sustainable food security. He appreciated the Council's significant contribution by establishing the world's premier agricultural research facility, the National Institute for Genomics and Biotechnology (NIGAB). Dr. Kausar appreciated the invaluable contribution made by young researchers for innovation in the field. The federal minister expressed the commitment of the government to provide full support in terms of technical and financial aspects and formulation of friendly policy for the improvement of the agricultural sector. He stressed the dire need for continuous training and education to ensure that professionals stay abreast of the latest developments.
While addressing the community, the Federal Minister shared a personal association spanning half a century with PARC and the agricultural sector, highlighting his unwavering commitment to its growth and development. During the interactive session, Dr. Kausar stressed on reducing the production gap of various agricultural commodities.
