Prime Minister and Ministry of National Food Security and Research to Host Send-Off Ceremony for First Batch of Agricultural Graduates Heading to China

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, along with the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, will host a prestigious send-off ceremony on April 15, 2025, for the first batch of 300 agricultural graduates selected under the "Prime Minister’s Initiative for Capacity Building of 1,000 Agricultural Graduates in China." These young professionals are scheduled to depart for China on April 16, 2025, for a fully funded international training program aimed at revolutionizing Pakistan’s agricultural sector.

This landmark initiative reflects the Prime Minister’s commitment to transforming Pakistan’s agriculture sector by investing in the country’s youth. This initiative is a flagship effort of the Government of Pakistan to equip the country's future agricultural leaders with modern skills and exposure. Through collaboration with leading Chinese universities and research institutes, the program offers specialized training in nine high-priority areas including farm mechanization, biotechnology, genomics, precision agriculture, AI, and high-efficiency irrigation systems.

The training program—spanning 3 to 6 months—is fully funded by the Government of Pakistan. Participants were selected through a competitive process based on merit and specialization in 9 key areas. The Agricultural graduates are expected to return as master trainers, helping disseminate the knowledge and techniques learned abroad to local farming communities and institutions.

Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, will also address the gathering. He is expected to underscore the government’s strategy to bridge the gap between traditional agricultural practices and scientific advancement.

The Prime Minister and the Federal Minister will congratulate the participants and urge them to become change agents for a more resilient, productive, and technologically advanced agricultural future in Pakistan.

The Ministry of National Food Security and Research remains fully committed to revolutionizing Pakistan’s agriculture sector through knowledge exchange, international collaboration, and skill development. The initiative to send 1,000 agricultural graduates to China is a critical step in this direction.
